I think that the highlight of this week was on Saturday, we had a final lesson with Aaron before the first session of conference. We have been very worried that Aaron would be unable to be baptized because he has mentioned that he didn't want to pay tithing for a year so that he can get back on his feet.
I think that I had mentioned to you guys that he was in a super low in his life where at one point he was living in his truck with his dog (which is part wolf by the way). He had no job, no home, and barely any food. He had a friend who happens to be in our ward, Brother Spackman, who found out his situation and let him stay at his home until he got back on his feet. The only way that they had known each other is through the big foot research that they had been doing. From what they have told me it sounds like they had barely even known each other.
So you can see why he wouldn't want to have to pay tithing. He just recently got a job and has just moved out of Brother Spackman's home. When we were teaching him about tithing he said, "You know what I wonder, how much it took me money wise to smoke what I did in a month?" It came up to be somewhere in the $300's which just so happens to be a tenth of what he is making at his job right now. He said, "You know I always somehow came up with the money to buy smokes, so I am sure that I will somehow come up with the money that I need to pay my tithing." He said that he will start paying his tithing after he is baptized which will be for sure happening on the 14!
We call John and he never answers his phone or gets back to us about the messages we leave, so we are just going to go to his friend Bob's house and get his address and knock on his door. He seems to be really solid and asks lots of questions during the garden service. So we will see if we can get in contact with him before Friday.
I sure do love you all I hope that you all have a great week!
Love, Elder Allred
